Pinwheels for Prevention
According to the Governor of Michigan and the Newaygo County Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (PCA), child abuse prevention is a community responsibility and it is during the month of April that we recognize the importance of prevention. We join with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Children's Trust Fund to promote The Power of One that asserts one community, one person, one dollar or one action can help protect Michigan's children from abuse and neglect.
The national signature of Child Abuse Prevention Month has become Pinwheels for Prevention, a campaign which seeks to generate greater awareness, knowledge, changes in attitudes and changes in behaviors in local communities.
Every April each county in Michigan plants a "Pinwheel Garden" to recognize these objectives. Newaygo County PCA has theirs on display on the front lawn of the Grant Public, White Cloud Elementary, and Hesperia Community Schools. Pinwheels represent happiness that each child deserves!
